PaGES 2 project officially started with the kick-off meeting in Trieste

The second edition of the PaGES project, PaGES 2, officially started on January 30th, with the kick-off meeting attended by all partners involved: CERIC-ERIC (coordinator), Kyma srl and three high schools from the Italian region Friuli Venezia Giulia: Liceo Scientifico Galilei (Trieste), Liceo Scientifico A. Einstein (Cervignano del Friuli), Liceo Scientifico Duca degli Abruzzi (Gorizia).

Fabio Mazzolini, PaGES 2 project manager, introduced the main changes to the previous edition and let the teachers and the partnersí staff, introduce their role in the planned activities.
In particular, the project plan envisages that, after a first introduction to project management by the CERIC Chief Administrative Officer, Andrea Santelli, pupils will get a closer look to particle accelerators (Simone Di Mitri) and to scientific topics such as gold nanoparticles covered with DNA (Loredana Casalis), through the lectures and experiments planned at the Italian CERIC Representing Entity, Elettra Sincrotrone Trieste. The data collected will then be processed and analysed.
Raffaelle Geometrante, Director General at Kyma srl, will show how the knowledge gained through research activities can be transferred to industry, for the development and application of new products and technologies.
Finally, the CERIC Communications Officer, Nicoletta Carboni, will present a variety of communication tools and tips to present the results of the project. Such skills will be also put into practice in occasion of the final event, in which the pupils will present the overall project and its achievements to their schoolmates.
During the kick-off meeting, the calendar of activities has been finalized and ideas for the submission of an improved proposal for the third edition of the project have been shared and discussed.
