CERIC-ERIC met the scientists of Bosnia and Herzegovina for further BiH integration in the European Research Area

On the 17th of December 2014 the University of Sarajevo hosted a meeting introducing CERIC-ERIC, the Central European Research Infrastructure Consortium, to the scientific community of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Local ministries and academies met the CERIC representatives (Fabio Mazzolini, Ornela De Giacomo, Aden Hodzic and Matthias Girod) to discover the distributed institution, its mission and its funding opportunities, going through the wide range of possibilities for future collaboration and for further integration of Bosnia and Herzegovina into the European Research Area.

During the meeting in Sarajevo, CERIC’s instruments for multi-technique basic and applied research in the fields of materials and biomaterials science were presented. The discussion explored the possibilities of jointly accessing EU Structural and Horizon2020 Funds for trans- and cross-border financing of RIs‘ projects, EU Marie Sklodowska-Curie Actions and the RISE program for short-term exchange of researchers, technical and administrative staff.

The event was attended by the representative of the Italian Embassy in Sarajevo Stefano Stucci, the vice-rector for scientific research Faruk Mekic, the head of the Department of Science from the Ministry of Civil Affairs in BiH Ammar Mirascija, the governmental representative in CERIC-ERIC from the Italian Ministry of Education, University and Research Salvatore La Rosa, and the CERIC-ERIC Deputy Director for European and International Relations Fabio Mazzolini.
