Pupils involved in PaGES 9 project engage in hands-on scientific experiments
On April 6-7, the pupils participating in PaGES 9 were hosted at the CERIC premises in Trieste.
Forty-five pupils from 4 different high schools in the Italian Region Friuli Venezia Giulia visited both the Italian and Austrian CERIC Partner Facilities located at Elettra Sincrotrone Trieste. They toured the synchrotron, met with researchers working on-site, and — most importantly – engaged in hands-on scientific experiments.
Guided by staff from Elettra, the Technical University in Graz, and CERIC – including Benedetta Marmiroli, Chiaramaria Stani, Francesco D’Amico, and Alessio Turchet – the pupils worked with investigative techniques commonly used for research in all fields of materials science and nanotechnology.
What’s next? The pupils will analyse the data collected and present their findings to a wider audience – just like professional scientists.
