CERIC at the ‘Advancing Careers In Research And Innovation’ Summer School

The University of Split, in Croatia, will host the first of three Summer Schools organized by ERA SHUTTLE, a project that aims to enhance research and innovation (R&I) capacity within the European Research Area, particularly focusing on Widening countries. The Summer School will take place from September 9th to 13th, and participation is free of charge. You can register here by July 24th, 2024.

The Summer School program is designed for researchers, research managers, and technology transfer officers from the Universities of Split, Gdansk, and Malta to develop their careers in research and innovation. Participants will learn about soft skills, AI productivity tools, research funding, technology transfer, and innovation & entrepreneurship.

The full agenda is available at this link, and we’re proud to announce that CERIC will also participate by offering two courses, one on science communication and the other on data management.

Teodor Ivănoaica, who coordinates IT and Scientific Computing at CERIC ERIC, will focus on best practices for data management, setting up a FAIR (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, and Reusable) data system, and the importance of initiatives like the European Open Science Cloud. He will provide essential insights to improve data handling and maximize research reach.

Effective research data management is vital for the scientific communities

Marcello Turconi, CERIC science communication officer, will speak about best practices for raising awareness of science-related topics, engaging with non-scientific audiences, and presenting research to various stakeholders. His seminar will provide a theoretical background on scientific communication, practical suggestions for creating posters and presentations, and tips for oral communication and writing non-scientific abstracts.
