How to get to Lecce

By bus:
Some daily coach services are run by private companies from Roma, Milano and Torino.

By train:
The Lecce railway station is located downtown. Regular direct train services run daily from the major cities (Milano, Bologna, Roma).

By plane:
The closest airport to Lecce is Brindisi (45 Km distance). Another option is flying to/from Bari (164 Km distance).

From the Brindisi airport to Lecce:

  • A bus service called Brindisi Airport Link is provided by Trenitalia (Italian Railway Company) and connects Brindisi Airport with Brindisi central railway station in 10-15 minutes. From there, connections to Lecce railway station are rather frequent. Total journey time is less than 1 hour. Tickets can be booked online: https://www.trenitalia.com/en.html or can be purchased directly at the train station.
  • The Bus service to Lecce stops outside the Arrivals Terminal. Timetables and fares are available at: https://www.aeroportidipuglia.it/bus-pugliairbus-
  • Airshuttle provides a pool taxi service (about 20 euro). The ride has to be booked at least one day in advance http://www.airshuttle.it/index_eng.asp

From the Bari airport to Lecce:
There is no direct train from Bari airport to Lecce, but there is a connection through Bari central railway station. You will first need to take the FM2 train from the Airport to Bari Centrale, then switch to an FSE train from there to Lecce. The total journey time is around 2 hours and 10 minutes. Train tickets can be booked online: https://www.trenitalia.com/en.html or can be purchased directly at the train station.

How to get to the Ecotekne Campus

Group transportation to and from the campus will be organized, the meeting point and exact departure time will be communicated to confirmed participants the week before the Symposium.

In case you will need to reach the campus at a different time, please note that the S.G.M. Lecce urban bus S13 provides a  convenient connection to the Ecotekne Campus.

Route S13 main stops:

Piazza Carmelo Bene (City Terminal): Starting point.

Viale Gallipoli: Near Lecce Centrale Train Station.

Via San Francesco d’Assisi: Residential and commercial area.

Viale Grassi: Near the hospital and other services.

Via Monteroni: Main road towards Ecotekne.

Ecotekne Campus: Final stop.

Travel time is between 15-25 minutes, depending on traffic. Buses run frequently throughout the day, check the latest timetable on the S.G.M. S.p.a website: https://www.sgmlecce.it/servizi/trasporto-pubblico/orari-servizio-estivo
